Mulawa Performance | Celebrating Success at the 2019 OTTO Sport Australia Sydney CDI 3*
The venerable and internationally regarded dressage event that is the Sydney CDI saw very competitive fields entered in each of the classes offered at this year’s show. Mulawa Performance was humbled to receive wonderful results from a super effort put in by our team.
Highlights and accolades from the CDI include:
MI SIRTAINLY SIR | SAP Intermediate Freestyle CDI 3* – 1st place | 73.95%
Affectionately known to many as “Andy”, MI Sirtainly Sir has continued to earn impressive results at Small Tour level and has continued to flourish with Riley Alexander in the saddle. Their campaign at this year’s Sydney CDI marked their first Intermediate Freestyle win, underscored by a strong performance in both the Böckmann Prix St Georges and the Jill Cobcroft Inter I.
Bred by Sally and Luke Kean of the Southern Highlands of NSW, Andy comes from the highly successful pairing of imported mare FASHIONISTA (DE) and international sire SIR DONNERHALL (DE). Along with Andy’s immense talent, Mulawa Performance is privileged to have his dam, full-sister SIRENITY MI and half-brother HERCULES MI as part of the performance program.
We expect wonderful things still yet to come for Andy – he has certainly set high standards for his younger family to aspire to.
LARENSO (DK) | Hygain Intermediate A CDN & Brighton Saddlery Intermediate B CDN – 1st place | 67.99% & 68.458%
Well on their way towards a Grand Prix debut, Riley Alexander and current National Medium Tour Champion Larenso produced two winning tests. These fantastic results have further established their exciting partnership, and we greatly anticipate a rewarding career yet to come for this combination at Big Tour level.
LUXOR 118 (DE) | Equestrian NSW Grand Prix Freestyle CDI 3* | 68.175%
The incredible partnership between Katharine Farrell and Luxor 118 is something so special to behold. The pair always shine bright when they enter an arena, and their appearance in the Big Tour of this year’s Sydney CDI was no exception. Kate and Luxor showcased a collection of gorgeous work in both the OTTO Sport Australia Grand Prix CDI 3* and Equestrian NSW Grand Prix Freestyle CDI 3*, continuing to build on the strong foundations established during their impressive dressage career together.
ABER SIENNA MI | Kohnke’s Own NSW Young Horse Championships • Chaballo 6YO Final — 2nd place | 8.03
This gorgeous daughter of stud sire ABER HALLO 29 (DE) and foundation mare SUGARLOAF SIRHARA continues to impress us with her elegance and maturity. With Riley Alexander, Sienna was awarded commendable scores and feedback in all three rounds of the Kohnke’s Own NSW Young Horse Championships – competing in the 6YO Class, supported by Chaballo.
Round One saw Sienna place 3rd with a strong score of 8.14. Round Two demanded a great deal of grit to complete the test in challenging wet and rainy conditions, but Sienna persevered with Riley and even improved on their Round One score – finishing in 2nd place with 8.16. Finally, in the buoyant atmosphere of the Indoor Arena, Sienna finished in 2nd place with a score of 8.03 after receiving some immensely positive feedback speaking to her future potential from the judging panel and esteemed guest rider, Wendi Williamson (NZL).
All in all, a remarkable achievement for this young, talented, home-bred mare in her first major season of competition.
We would like to thank each and every one of the class sponsors for their support of these competitive fields, as well as major event sponsor OTTO Sport Australia.
We were also thrilled to sponsor the FEI U25 16-25 CDI 3* classes, and wish to congratulate the talented young riders who took part in the competition. We’d especially like to congratulate the winners of each class –
Mary Nitschke & Utopian Cardinal | Winners of the U25 Grand Prix Freestyle
Jemma Heran & Hedelunds Mefisto | Winners of the U25 Grand Prix
Sarah Farraway & Arawn | Winners of the U25 Intermediate II
Chiefly, our gratitude goes to the fantastic organisational team behind the Sydney CDI for executing another spectacular show – hand-in-hand with the judges, stewards, media teams and volunteers. Dressage NSW should also be commended for their incredible support of the Performance Squad – offering excellent access to services supporting both horse and rider.
Behind the scenes at Mulawa Performance we have a wonderful team dedicated to assisting Riley and Kate with the training and care of our horses – including performance coach John Thompson of JHT Equine, performance manager Danielle Currie and super grooms Lena Seiler, Annette Lowe and Agata Mola. We thank them along with the many others behind the scenes for playing essential roles in the ensemble effort which continues to sustain us along our journey.
With gratitude and congratulations to all, we look forward to celebrating another Sydney CDI in 2020.
